Sam Harrelson: Pluto Is Not a Planet or I Never Had Planetary Relations With That Celestial Body

    I don't think they should change the original planets because we just received our new science book and they are incorrect.

    I'm sure all the textbook publishers out there are just loving this decision by the IAU to demote Pluto. After all, it means that every single astronomy or general science text out there needs to be revised into new editions!

    Having just taught 8th grade Science where we cover such things as astronomy and intro physics, I can definitely say that most textbooks (even the most recent editions) have so many errors in them that something as trivial as 8 planets instead of 9 planets won't be noticed. I'm joking about the trivial part, but not about the innacuracies. More proof positive that we need to do away with the concepts of "textbooks" completely in our educational structure and rely on primary and applicable secondary materials and teachers who actually know what they're talking about and are passionate about the subject they are teaching.
